Silver Lake Resort Opening Week 2023

It wasn’t your typical Opening of Fishing Season this year here in the Eastern High Sierra, but those that braved the snow and the frozen Lakes were rewarded with some nice size Rainbows here on Silver Lake!!  It was a herculean effort to get things open this year due to the crazy amounts of snow we received here in the June lake Loop and surrounding Mono County, but we made it here at Silver Lake Resort and were rewarded with a beautiful Opening Weekend.  Most of the Lakes were covered in ice and snow but the die-hards worked to get some open water were able to get some good fish reeled in.

Things continue to thaw and melt around here and the lakes should be ice free in the next week or so.  Currently June and Grant Lakes are 100% ice free and Silver is about 75% ice free and should break up this week.  Gull looks like it may need a little more time but Mother Nature can work her magic.

Silver Lake Resort is 100% Open with the Cabins and RV Park in full operations and the Store (7am to 7pm) and Café (7am to 2pm) are open everyday for the summer.  We will get the boats and our dock into the water as soon as the ice is all gone.  Unfortunately the never ending Public Boat Ramp Project, now on year 3, is still not done and doesn’t appear to be completed anytime soon.  Just a reminder that this public boat launch is not maintained or operated by Silver Lake Resort so give a call to your local INYO Forest Manager and give them an earful.

Silver Lake Resort stocked 600 pounds of Desert Springs Beautiful Rainbows last Thursday right before the opener and we look forward to seeing many of those big boys brought into our scales as the lake continues to open up and the fishing areas continue to become more accessible.  Look for another Desert Spring Stocking before Memorial Weekend as we look to make a splash on the delayed Fishmas Contest put on my Ernies Tackle Shop and the entire June Lake Loop.
