Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 8/25 – 9/2/2018

The Fishing at Silver Lake has been pretty good over this past week; that is depending on who you ask.  Pictures and fish on the scale don’t lie and we have seen some really nice fish this past week.  Two of those Rainbows weighed in over 7 pounds and three Rainbows came in at over 6 pounds, with a bunch of 2 to 4 pounders coming in as well.  I generally call that a pretty good week of fishing here at Silver Lake!!!  We have not seen the stringers full of fish but that is not unusual at the end of August first week of September as it has been a hot, busy summer with lots of people fishing the lake hard.  This past week we were boosted by  a nice load of DFW fish and a beautiful load of 400 pounds of Desert Springs Rainbows weighing in at an average of 4 pounds that we had stocked this past Thursday.  Like I always like to say, if your not catching fish, try a different tactic, a different spot or a different bait or lure.  The fish are out there, they are probably not biting your line because they are to busy laughing at you and how your fishing.  If all else fails, look up at the mountains, smile and enjoy the beautiful scenery that the June Lake Loop and Eastern Sierra has to offer.  Most anglers that caught fish this week were using various baits like Berkley Power Baits with Garlic like a Rainbow Glitter Garlic, Chartreuse Glitter Garlic, Pinch Crawlers with Garlic Infused and Zeke’s Dough Bait with Garlic.  The thought in the Garlic, in my opinion is that it helps hide the scent of your hands as you rig up your gear.  Anglers have also done well with lures with some pinks and reds and still seeing some good results on flies like a Hornberg, Olive Matuka, Mosquito, Sierra Brite Dot or a Elks Hare Caddis.  As we start to wind down on the summer season look for the catching side of fishing to pick up as we start to get some cooler nights and mornings.

We hope that everyone had a great Labor Day Weekend and enjoyed some good quality time with family and friends.  Thanks to all our customers, staff and family for another hugely successful Fundraiser yesterday for the Chris Jones Memorial Scholarship Horseshoe and BBQ.  As we always do, we sold out the horseshoe tournament at 30 teams and had some great raffle prizes all throughout the day.  Special thanks to all the ladies and gentlemen who donated tons of great baskets that were raffled off.  Every penny brought in goes directly to fund the Chris Jones Scholarship for local graduating seniors.  A great cause in honor of a great lady for some great local kids to head onto college.  Thanks to everyone who participated and hopefully enjoyed the day.  We truly appreciate all the support!!

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!
