Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 8/10 – 8/17 /19
Full Moon!!!! Excuse #1 Warm Weather!!!! Excuse #2 Warm Water!!!! Excuse #3……
I’ll stop there, as the catching side of fishing has definitely turned here at Silver Lake this past week. It has indeed been a little struggle to land the fish but those that have been successful have been rewarded with some really nice size Rainbows both coming out of Silver Lake and Rush Creek. Rush Creek has been as bright as the moon was the other night and has been producing some really nice quality 1 to 3 pound Rainbows. It is nice to see the production down on Rush since it had been so difficult to fish it most of the season due to the amount of water running through it. Anglers saw some great results on Rush with Salmon Eggs and smaller lures, like a Panther Martin, Super Duper or Rooster Tail – all good old faithfuls. On Silver lake you had to work a lot harder to catch those Rainbows as the water temperature has really warmed up as we are holding steady about 61 to 63 degrees. A spot we are usually at in mid to late June, not mid to late August. The fish are still out there, you just need to find the depths that they are feeding at which is bouncing all over the place this week. Stay the course and try new spots and tactics and you should do well. Anglers on the lake have continued to do well using Night Crawlers, Pinch Crawlers, Mice Tails and a variety of Power Baits. With Labor Day just a few weeks away the end of Summer is fast approaching as kids slowly start to head back to school. There is always time for one more fishing trip up to the beautiful Eastern Sierras though. Fishing should pick back up as the full Moon subsides, the lake flips over and the cooler evening help the water temps and DFW and Desert Springs continue to drop some nice fish into the lakes here in the Loop.
Silver Lake Resort will be holding its Annual Horseshoe Tournament and BBQ on Saturday, August 31st of Labor Day Weekend. Horseshoe Tournament is limited to the first 30 teams that sign up so don’t wait, as we always sell out!!! BBQ and Raffle Prizes galore will be done throughout the day as well. If you are in town this weekend, we will be having a Pot Luck Dinner in the RV Park on Sunday 8/18 starting at 4:30 with Live Music by Gypsy Jazzman Chris Murphy from 5pm to 7pm. Come on out to the Silver Lake Resort RV Park and enjoy some great music around the campfire. I promise you will not be disappointed by Chris Murphy and his Violin!!!!
Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!
