Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 7/2 – 7/9/17
It has been an absolutely gorgeous week here at Silver Lake. The 4th of July festivities were amazing, lots of fun and full of great BBQ, good music and great people!!!! Our Annual Chris Jones Scholarship Horseshoe Tournament was a great event with 30 teams going after the much desired Mug and belt buckle, with The Stucky’s outlasting everyone to win the title for the second year in a row!!! Thanks to everyone who participated and help throughout the day to make a very memorable and enjoyable day for all.
Not only was it a great 4th of July but it was a great week of fishing here at Silver Lake and Rush Creek. The water temperature is continuing to increase which will only help on the catching side of fishing. Last weeks double stocking by DFW and Desert Springs has only added to a great week of catching some very nice Rainbows weighing in between 3 and 5 pounds throughout the week. as well as some great stringers full of fish. Anglers have still been looking for that middle layer of warmer waters where the fish seem to be feeding a little more consistently and have seen some really good results using worms, mice tails, pinch crawlers and dough baits. Think about doing a longer leader than you are use to, work off the bottom between 5 to 8 feet to find that warmer layer. If you enjoy trolling on Silver Lake look to pull some Thomas Buoyant Gold/Red lures, some pink Tasmanian Devils and some streamers like a Olive Matuka or Green Wooly bugger with Red gills. The bugs are out in abundant right now with all the water and warm temps so think about tossing a fly and a bubble or get out your fly rod and roll out some Mosquitos, Sierra Bright Dot, Caddis or a May Fly to see some great results. As I always like to say, don’t always do what everyone else is doing, switch things up and try what you have in your tackle box, you might be happily surprised with the results!!!
Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!
Fish of the Week:
