Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 7/10 – 7/17/2016
The weather is as close to perfect as it can be and the fishing has been great here at Silver Lake!!! The temperatures are warm, which means that the fish are going deeper in the water but that hasn’t stopped anglers from having a heck of a week. Most Anglers have continued to see great results fishing in the deeper waters either from a boat or the shores of Silver Lake using Night Crawlers early and late in the day in the shadows and using Berkley Power Baits with Garlic or Gulp Pinch Crawlers in it mid day at the bottom of the lake with a 3 to 4 foot leader. During those early in the day and late in the afternoon times as the fish are near the surface feeding more anglers have done well tossing a Gold/Red or Silver Blue Thomas Buoyant at them, as well as using some Berkley Mice Tails and fishing them like a jig in the darker shadows. If you enjoy going in circles around the lake trolling, look to take it deeper to about 30 feet as those bigger guys are down deep. Try using some Rapalas in a Rainbow or Brown Trout pattern in a CD-03 or CD-07 size as well as some Thomas Buoyants up near the surface later in the day. Rush Creek has also picked up this weekend in certain deeper pockets using a Rooster Tail or Kastmaster or try flipping a dry fly like a Mosquito, Yellow Sally or a Royal Coachman. DFW stocked both the lake and Rush Creek this past week and we are on the schedule to get some more this coming week and we should also get another load of nice 1 1/2 to 3 pounders out of Desert Spring Oregon thanks to Mono County this coming week. Water levels are holding strong still, as both Rush Creek and Alger Creek are still flowing strong into Silver Lake which will only continue to keep fishing strong. Water levels are high, fishing is great and you can’t beat the scenery here at Silver lake Resort and the June Lake Loop. Come on up and enjoy all Mono County and the surrounding areas have to offer.
Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!
Fish of the Week:
Bradlee Watts of Bakersfield and Riley Kent of Bakersfield had a great day when they hooked into these nice Rainbows weighing in at 2 pounds 10 ounces and 3 pounds 1 ounce fishing from a boat on Silver Lake using a Thomas Buoyant and some Night Crawlers. Great job Girls!!!
