Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 7/3 – 7/11/2021

Hot!! Hot!! Hot!!

That has been the conditions here at Silver Lake Resort this past week in many different ways. The weather here in the June Lake Loop has been in the high 80’s to low 90’s all week – which is extremely hot for us here at 7,500 ft. in elevation. With the warmer air temperatures, it has also increased the water temps drastically as well. The water temperature at our dock, 4 ft. below the surface, is hovering around 66-68 degrees, which is really hot for those poor fishies. With that said, obviously the bulk of the catching this past week has been deep in the waters where the temps are a little cooler. Anglers are seeing most of their action early in the mornings (6am to 8:30am) and much later in the day, if and hopefully when, things start to cool off for the day. There is no magic bait or magic spot to catch all the fish, you will need to find some cooler waters and work those areas. Anglers saw the best action this week on all of our normal popular baits – Berkley Power Baits – Florescent Orange, Garlic, Rainbow Glitter Garlic, Gold Vein and also Night Crawlers and Berkley Pinch Crawlers. I wouldn’t necessarily say that the catching side of things is super hot like everything else, but I do count of over 20 Rainbows brought in this week weighing in at more than two pounds. Not terrible action – but it does depend on who you talk to. We received two nice healthy loads of Desert Springs Rainbows before the 4th of July weekend which always helps on the catching side of things and we are scheduled to receive another load of 400 pounds this coming Thursday.
There are a lot of good size fish coming into the scales and even more of them out in the lake ready to be caught, so come on up and enjoy some of the beauty of Silver Lake, the June Lake Loop and the entire Eastern Sierra.

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!

Fish of the Week:

Amber Gaudreau of Bakersfield landed these nice 3 pound and 2 pound 2 oz Rainbows fishing from a boat on Silver Lake using Berkley Power Bait. Amber also caught a couple of 2 pound Rainbows the next day. Every year Amber comes up to Silver Lake and out fishes almost everyone. This year is no exception!! Great Catch Amber!!
