Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 7/23 – 8/1/23

August 1, 2023 8:08 am by Andrew Jones

The catching side of fishing has stayed relatively consistent here at Silver Lake over the past week or so.  It has slowed some but we are still seeing great numbers of larger Rainbows being brought in both from the shore and a boat.  It seems like we have hit the peak of water flows and should slowly start to subside in the amount of water coming into Silver Lake from both Rush Creek and Alger Creek.  There is still a lot of water to come down from the high country but it looks like things will slow down some.  With this slow down of water flow, we should start to see water temperatures start to increase as the summer sun warms all that cold snow melt coming in.  Depth in the lake seems to be more important when fishing than what you are using, as those fish are looking for some warmer waters to feed at.  Shore fishing is still somewhat limited with high waters but anglers have done well using your standard baits – Berkley Power Baits with Garlic or Salmon Peach, Berkley Pinch Crawlers and Berkley Mice Tails.  Funny thing is that Berkley doesn’t pay me to say this, but their products work the best around here.  Don’t forget some of the other successfully used baits like Night Crawler worms, Ultra Light Heavy Weight or Golden State Jigs and the new very popular Mook Lure!!

The DFW seems to be stocking pretty much weekly lately, now that the US Forest Service Boat Ramp and Parking Area are back up and fully operational.  We also will continue to buy and stock the big boys from Oregon about every three weeks.

Its hard to believe it is August already, so as we start to head downhill on Summer, get yourself up to the Eastern Sierra and the beautiful June Lake Loop soon!!  We will be having live Music in the RV Park picnic area on Sunday August 13th (5pm Potluck – Music 6-8) with the very famous Fiddling Chris Murphy and The Devils Box String Band and we are already getting ready for our annual Chris Jones Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser with Horseshoe Tournament (Limited to first 32 teams signed up) and BBQ with lots of Raffle Prizes and Basket Raffles scheduled on Saturday September 2nd of Labor Day Weekend!!

Lots of Summer and Fall Left but it will go Fast!!!

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!

Fish of the Week:

Kanita Coyle caught a hand full of Rainbows down on Rush Creek weighing in at 7 pound 2 oz, 4 pound 11 oz and 4 pound 8 oz using Berkley Mice Tails.  Great Catch Kanita!!
