Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 7/16 – 7/24/2021
Hope that everyone had a great Fourth of July Weekend and everyone is enjoying the summer and getting out and soaking up the beauty of the Eastern Sierra or wherever your travels take you. The hot weather cooled down some this past week and even dropped a little rain throughout last week, which was much needed and enjoyable. It helped to cool not only the air temperatures but it also cooled off the water temps just a little as well. This slight col down helped a little with the catching side of fishing here at Silver Lake. It depends on who you talk to on what story you get on how good or bad fishing is. Most people will tell you that it hasn’t been all that great or they didn’t catch a thing all week, and then there is the one’s you talk to that said they didn’t catch a lot of fish but they were happy with the quality of fish that they caught. This is a direct correlation to what has been stocked into Silver Lake. Silver Lake received a 400 pound load of Desert Springs Rainbows, that we purchased, last Thursday and that is what we have been seeing come into the store to be weighed and unfortunately not much else. Tis the season for the catching side of fishing to be tough, as there is a lot of people in the area right now and not many fish being planted by the Department of Fish and Wildlife, due to their continuous issues with their hatcheries. The anglers that did catch some nice 2 to 4 pound Rainbows this past week saw some decent action using Berkley Power Baits of all colors and flavors, Berkley Pinch Crawlers and good old Night crawlers. The action has been most consistent early in the mornings before the sun starts to beat on the water and warm it up and the fish start to go deeper in search of cooler water temps. No matter if your fishing experience was good, bad, or in between, remember, you are on vacation and not at work, so enjoy the time, slow down, look up and take a deep breath. It is all good!!! The fishing is only a bonus.
Happy Fishing and We will See You at the Lake!!
