Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 6/25 – 7/2/17
The fishing on Silver Lake has picked up nicely this past week with a number of very nice Rainbows being caught both on Silver Lake and Rush Creek throughout the week. The past few weeks of warmer temperatures have helped to warm that lake water that was sitting at 46 to 48 degrees last week and is between 49 and 51 degrees this week which only will continue to help make the catching side of fishing improve. It also helped that DFW and Desert Spring dumped some very healthy size loads of Rainbows into the lake. Desert Springs put in 400 pounds of Rainbows averaging just over 3 pounds each and DFW put in 800 pounds of catchable size Rainbows.
Anglers saw some great results this past week fishing and catching with Berkley products like Mice Tails, Pinch Crawlers and dough baits with glitter and Garlic. Tossing a Gold/Red Thomas Buoyant or a Gold Phoebe also saw some really good action on the lake. Shore fishing is a little limited due to all the high water we are having here at Silver Lake, but we aren’t complaining about that as it is very nice to see the lakes in the entire region full. You just need to move around the lake or put on some waders to get out from the shore but the effort will pay off. With the amount of water that we are seeing it has opened up some new areas to fish that before were dry and inaccessible. Look at the far end of Silver Lake in the marshy areas and work in some spots around the willows and weeds that in past years sat dry and out of the water. With all this great water, also comes the bugs and especially the mosquitos!!! Bug spray up to protect yourself but also think about putting a California Dry Fly Mosquito on the end of your line and give it a try. Also work in some Caddis’ and some flying black ants with a red tail and see if you can’t catch a nice fish or two. As always, be patient, switch things up and don’t be afraid to try any and everything you have in your tackle box. Remember, this fish don’t know what is working or not working, its how you present it to them that is the key to success.
Don’t forget that we will be having live Music tonight Sunday July 2nd in our RV park with the ever popular “Good Livin” and we will be having our Annual Chris Jones Memorial Scholarship Horseshoe Tournament and BBQ on Tuesday July 4th from 11am to 5pm so come on out and enjoy the 4th of July Festivities not only here at Silver Lake but throughout the Region from Bridgeport to Crowley Lake!!!
Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!
Fish of the Week:
Doug Shaw of Van Nuys was out on his float tube when he hooked into these nice Rainbows. One weighed in at 3 pounds 1 ounce and the other a very nice 4 pounds 10 ounces!!!! Doug was floating around Silver Lake tossing a Olive Wooly Bugger. Great Catch Doug. Could not happen to a better guy!!!!
