WELCOME TO SUMMER!!!!!!

Like a wall of water cascading over Horsetail Falls at a rate that we haven’t seen in years, the fishing at Silver Lake has exploded and the summer push is here in full force just like the water.  The amount of water we are receiving from the high country is amazing, beautiful and a handful all at the same time.  The warmer weather we have been having over the past week that will continue into this next week as well, will continue to make the fishing on Silver Lake better and better as the water temperatures continue to warm up.  The surface of the lake is sitting at a temperature around 46 to 48 degrees so look to take your rigging below the surface and off the bottom where that cold water is sitting and look for that middle layer that is a little warmer and seems to be where the fish are feeding a little stronger.  Consistent baits and lures haven’t set a pattern quite yet but we have seen some good action with anglers using worms, Berkley Mice Tails and we are starting to see some good results with the dough baits.  Remember, the fish don’t send out memos to each other what they should be eating so if you have something in your tackle box pull it out and give it a try, you never know what will work.  Its how you present it to the fish more than what it is!!!  Be patient and results will follow and don’t forget to look up and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Carson Peak and the Eastern Sierra!!!  We are scheduled to get two loads of fish next week; not this week, one from DFW and a nice load of bigger 3 to 5 pound Rainbows from Desert Spring Hatchery out of Oregon next week as well.  There are lots of fish out in the water, you just have to spend some time looking for them with all the water we are receiving, they are hiding amongst all those willows and bushes that are now covered with water.

Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday (Saturday) to help us with our 11th Annual Rush Creek Clean Up.  We had about 40 volunteers who came out and helped us pick up trash from Double Eagle all the way to 395 past Grant Lake.  We ended up filling abut 50 bags of trash, a couple of tires and some other odds and ends that people have left behind.  Thank You to all who volunteered for helping us keep our area Clean, pristine and beautiful for all to enjoy!!!

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!

Fish of the Week:

Olen Licey of Bonita had the biggest catch at Silver Lake this week when he brought in this nice 5 pound 11 ounce Rainbow caught fishing from his Kayak on Silver Lake.  Olen was using Berkley Garlic Pinch Crawlers when he hooked up with this Rainbow that gave him a good pull around the lake.  Great Catch Olen!!!
