Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 6/17 – 6/24/18

The fishing at Silver Lake has continued to stay relatively steady here at Silver Lake as the weather has warmed and summer is here.  Horsetail Falls has slowed down over the past week, which means that the high country snow melt is also slowing.  With that said, look for the lake water temperatures to slowly increase in temperature which will make the fishing a little more active as those fish are out feeding more and more often.  With Horsetail Falls slowing down, the lake level dropped a few inches this past week and Rush Creek has slowed its flow down as well.  This has helped with the catching side of fishing and we have seen some nice Rainbows being pulled out of Rush this past week.  Anglers have been using Night Crawlers, Berkley Power Baits and Mice Tails and lures like a Thomas Buoyant Gold/Red and some Super Dupers both in the Creek and Silver Lake.  The bugs are starting to show this past week as well, which will help from a fly fishing or spinning rod with a fly and a bubble.  Try using a California Mosquito or a Sierra Bright Dot early in the mornings and late in the afternoons.  We are on schedule to receive a load of DFW fish in both Silver Lake and Rush Creek this next week, so look for the catching side of Fishing to stay strong.

Fish of the Week:

Ava from Long Beach hooked into this nice 4 pound 4 oz Rainbow fishing from a boat on Silver Lake using a Berkley Mouse Tail.  Great Catch Ava!!!
