Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 5/3 – 5/9/2021

The catching side of fishing has been much like the weather this past week, an up and down roller coaster.  Not unusual for early in the season.  We had a little of everything this week with some beautiful blue skies, to some hard winds, to some warm nights and of course some cold nights that dipped into the mid 20’s.  We saw fish come into the scales here at the store according to how the weather was.  Nice days we weighed a bunch of fish, on those cold windy days we didn’t weigh much.  Again, not unusual for the weather or the catching for early May.  Those anglers that  saw success were using baits like Night Crawler Worms and Berkley Power Baits with Garlic flavors and we are just starting to see some anglers hook into some fish trolling with some streamer flies and lures like Tasmanian Devils and Rapalas.  Things will continue to get a little better as the water temps and the air temps start to warm up and become more consistent.  Summer here in the Eastern Sierra is beginning to look like it will be extremely busy so make sure you get up here and enjoy the beauty of the region and try your luck at catching some nice Rainbows.  DFW is not scheduled to stock Silver Lake for quiet some time due to their Hatchery Issues from last year (Don’t Get me Stated on this one), but we are scheduled to receive a load of Desert Springs Rainbows from Oregon that we have purchased to try to help on the catching side of things here in the next week or two.

Keep Smiling – the view is pretty good no matter where you sit up here in the beautiful Eastern Sierra, catching is only a bonus!!

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!

Fish of the Week:

Tim Neal of Huntington Beach landed this beautiful 5 pound 12 oz Rainbow fishing from a boat on Silver Lake using a Tasmanian Devil.  Great catch Tim!!!
