Silver Lake Resort 6/5 – 6/12/16

This was a crazy weather week for sure with some very warm temperatures early in the week, incredibly strong winds a few days and some great, and always needed, rain storms at the end of the week which made fishing feel like you were on a roller coaster ride.  It looks like DFW have opened up the trucks and will be stocking both Rush Creek and Silver Lake on a weekly basis rather than every other week which is great news.  We saw some various results throughout the week with the spin cast anglers doing well with some Power Baits which makes sense as the weather and the water temperatures continue to increase.  Try using Power Baits with some Garlic in it, Rainbow Glitter Garlic, Yellow Garlic and some Lime or Lemon Twist.  Berkley Mice Tails with some red and pink have also seen great results, as has worms early in the morning and late in the day.  Troller’s have seen some decent results about 3 to 4 colors deep using a flasher pulling a worm or a Kastmasters or Tasmanian Devil.  Also the ever stable Thomas Buoyant Gold/Red has been doing well.  The warmer weather has continued to bring out the bugs in full force and we have seen some results using an Elk Hare Caddis, California Mosquito or Yellow and Red Humpy’s.  Look for the fishing to hopefully continue to improve as DFW starts stocking weekly and we continue to help supplement with loads of bigger fish from Desert Springs Hatchery in Oregon about every three weeks throughout the summer.

Thanks to all those who helped us this past Saturday at our 10th Annual Rush Creek Clean Up.  Joe Lemire and his crew from the Streamborn Fly Fishing Club and the over 30 other volunteers who helped us pick up trash from the Rush Creek Power Plant all the way to the far end of Grant Lake.  Thanks to all for helping to keep our area Pristine and a beautiful fishery for all to enjoy!!!

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!

Fish of the Week:

Young Hunter and Taylor Bradshaw of Bakersfield hauled in this great stringer of fishing totaling 4 pounds 10 ounces all caught from the shore of Silver Lake using Garlic Power Baits.  Not only did the Bradshaw crew hit some great fishing spots they also had an encounter with our resident bear who felt he needed their bag of chips more than they did.  Great Fishing Bradshaw’s!!!!!
