Silver Lake Fishing Report 7/6 – 7/14/19
Finally The Catching is Better then the Fishing!!!
…Just Ask The Ladies!!!
If you aren’t catching fish in Silver Lake over this past weekend, you might want to look yourself in the mirror and admit you are doing something wrong when it comes to fishing. Rainbows of all sizes are being pulled out of Silver Lake this past week thanks to the continues warm up of the waters after a very long and col Spring. the water temps are right where we want them for some great active catching, as of this morning we are sitting around 53 degrees, which has helped with the bite. Anglers have seen the most consistent action by using good old fashioned Night Crawlers both from the top and from the bottom. Also working well this week has been Berkley Pinch Crawlers, as well as one of Berkeley new dough baits the bumble bee flavor. The key to catching has been mixing up the length of your leader to find the zone the fish are feeding at. Some places it i 2 feet, others it is 5 feet, so changing the length up is super important. There are a lot of fish that have been caught here at Silver Lake lately and there are still a lot more to be had thanks to all the early season stocking that we have had by both DFW and Desert Spring and a special load by the Boys at Ernies Tackle and Ski Shop. Speaking of stocking we should be on schedule for another load of DFW and desert Springs big boys sometime over the next week, which should help to keep the catching side of fishing pretty good. If you are struggling to catch fish, continue to think outside of the box and try new things, new spots and different length leaders. Don’t be afraid to try anything you have in your tackle box and if doesn’t work, try something else. The fish are actively feeding but aren’t stupid so you still have to do your part to trick the trout. Water levels are still super high but we should slowly start to drop off as the winter run off slowly melts away. Horse Tail Falls is still roaring and beautiful, so when your fishing don’t forget to look up and enjoy the beauty of the June Lake Loop!!!
Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!
