Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 8/22 – 8/29/15

Well, the fishing at Silver Lake has been like the first few days of a new school year,  some times good and sometimes not so good.  The good news is that we received another nice load of DFW fish this week and are on schedule to receive DFW fish and a load of Desert Springs fish early next week before the holiday.   The fishing has been the best early in the mornings or late in the afternoon after the shadows have hit the water.  The week wasn’t a total bust as you can see from the pictures of our big fish this week.  We saw a few 3 to 5 pounders and a couple of 7 pounders as well.  Anglers continue to have success at or near the bottom of the lake where the water is coolest and have seen the best results using Berkley Power Baits with Garlic in it.  Thomas Buoyant have also continued to be a steady bet, as have Silver Lures like a Kastmaster or Needle Fish.  Labor Day is next weekend and that means our Annual Chris Jones Memorial Scholarship BBQ, Horseshoe Tournament and Raffle.  The Festivities will be on Saturday September 5th and start at 11am in the Silver Lake RV Park Picnic Area.  Come on out a enjoy the festivities, the scenery and your Family and Friends.  Look for some new things going at this years BBQ as we will have some local Art for sale and a Quilt for Raffle called “The Patchwork of Love” made by many of our Wonderful Customers.  So come on out next week and enjoy the day.  Also next Saturday September 5th will be the State of California’s Free Fishing Day.

No excuses not to come up and fish and enjoy!!!!!

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!

Fish of the Week:

Richard Jenkins of Glendale landed the “Fish of The Week” weighing in at 7 pounds 5 ounces.  Richard was out fishing in the S.S. Damn Duck Dingy on Silver Lake with our “Resident” Expert Big Fish Bob when he hooked into this beautiful Rainbow trolling with a Needle Fish Lure.  The story goes that Bob was busy reattaching his leader after mistakenly cutting it off when Richard hooked up with his big Rainbow!!!  After 20 minutes of getting pulled around in the dingy, Richard hauled in his catch as Bob continued to reattached his leader.  That is at least the story I heard.  Great catch Richard!!!!
