Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 8/14 – 8/21/16

August 20, 2016 9:27 am by Andrew Jones

The Fishing here at Silver Lake has been picking up all week long as we were helped out by a few nice stockings over the past week.  DFW stocked this past Tuesday and are also on schedule to plant this week again, we also received a beautiful load of Desert Springs Rainbows last Friday which we have seen coming in all week.  The weather is slowly starting  to cool down which is and will continue to help the catching side of fishing here at Silver Lake.  Water levels are still holding strong and looking good both here at Silver Lake and down at Grant Lake.  Rush Creek also received a nice load of DFW planters this past week in three different spots so spend a little time down on the Creek looking for some deeper holes of water where those planters will be hanging out.  All your standard baits have been producing some great results again this week as anglers have been using all Berkley Products but seen good results on Garlic versions, Pinch Crawlers and Mice Tails.  Trolling has been good early and late in the days once the shadows hit the waters and they have been using Tasmanian Devils with some bright colors like a Sunset Frog, Red Wing or Pink Bomber.  Also, trolling some streamers are working well, like a Hornberg or Olive Matuka.   Try tossing a Gold/Red Thomas Buoyant or a Gold Pheobe in the shadows along the road side of the lake as well.  Those big boys will be hanging out in those shadows during the late part of the day.  Our Fly fishermen have done well at the mouth of Rush Creek using a #16 Yellow Sally, #16 Adams Parachute or a Red Humpy.  If the fish just sit there and stare at you, look at using something different!!!

Labor Day weekend is just around the corner and we will be having our Annual Chris Jones Memorial Scholarship Horseshoe Tournament and BBQ on Saturday, September 3rd.  All money raised at the Horseshoe Tournament and BBQ will go to help local High School students achieve their higher education goals and dreams, so come on out and enjoy the festivities.  First Horseshoe goes in the air at 11am and BBQ starts at 12pm!!!  Before the Labor Day Festivities we will also have another evening of Live Music by the ever Famous Tom Gault and “Good Livin” to continue our 100th Anniversary Celebration of Silver Lake Resort.  Come on out this coming Saturday, August 27th in the RV Park for good music and S’mores around the campfire from 5pm to 7pm.  The Summer is going by fast and Fall is just around the corner so don’t miss your chance to come on up and enjoy all the beauty of the June Lake Loop and all Mono County has to offer!!!

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!

Fish of the Week:

The Salazar Crew had a great week fishing on Silver Lake this past week catching some great fish all week long like these nice Rainbows and Browns using Berkely Power Baits like Garlic and Rainbow Glitter Garlic.  Great week guys!!!

Another week with nothing but silence from “Big Fish” Bob.  I heard he had to get a full time job to help pay his bills.  Hopefully he gets time to get back out on the water or we may need to change his name to “No Fish” Bob!!!
