Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 7/23 – 7/30/17

The fishing on Silver Lake has continued to stay steady with some spots of brilliant fishing.  The lake continues to warm – 54 degrees – as the snow melt in the high country finally starts to slow, which is allowing our warmer days to heat that water.  As the lake continues to warm, look for fishing to continue to get better as those fish become more active and are looking for more to eat.  Slowly start to go back to our conventional way of fishing here at Silver Lake, which is to take your baits down to the bottom of the lake and bring them back up with a three to four foot leader.  Rainbow Glitter Garlic, Yellow Glitter Garlic, Berkley Mice Tails and Berkley Garlic Pinch Crawlers will get you some great results.  Don’t forget to toss out an occasional worm at or just below the surface of the water early in the mornings or later in the day when the sun is not beating on the water.  Also during this early morning and later afternoon think about trolling an Olive Matuka or a Green Wooly Bugger just below the surface.  The bugs are out, so if you are interested in what is working in the fly category look at using a Royal Wulff or an Elks Hair Caddis in Dry Flies or something like a Soft Hackle in an Emerger or a Bead Head Prince Nymph or Copper John in Nymphs. The ever steady and consistent Thomas Buoyant in the gold/red pattern is always great, as is a Super Duper in a Rainbow pattern here at Silver Lake and down at Rush Creek.  We are on schedule to get stocked from DFW this week so the fishing here should continue to stay strong if you put in the time and practice good techniques!!!

If you didn’t hear, The US Forest Service with help from a Grant from the California Boat and Water Ways has finished the installation of a brand new public boat dock, at of all places, the public boat ramp area.  If you want to see some pictures of the dock in all is glory, go to our facebook page to see how it looks.  It is gorgeous and we are happy and thankful to have a public boat dock back at Silver Lake that is FREE for all to enjoy!!!  Thank you for all involved in getting this project done and more importantly complete!!!!

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!

Fish of the Week:

Everett Gossett of Murrietta landed this Monster 7 pound 11 ounce Rainbow fishing from his float tube on Silver Lake using an Olive Matuka.  That is a Great Fish!!!  Nice job Everett!!
