Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 5/21 – 5/28/17

The amount of water we have in the Silver Lake, Rush Creek and Grant Lake section of the June Lake Loop is astounding!!!!  Over the past week Silver Lake has risen a good six additional feet this week alone and Rush Creek is flowing like we haven’t seen in years all due to the massive amount of Snow that we received in the region this past winter.  We sure are happy to have the extra water, however with that extra water comes some issues that make the fishing side and especially the catching side more difficult.  The water temperature is still sitting around 43 to 45 degrees at the surface and the clarity of the lake is pretty murky from all the debris that is being pushed around.  Horsetail Falls that feeds into Rush Creek and Silver Lake is a spectacular sight to see in all its beauty.

With that little bit of knowledge, the fishing hasn’t been as spectacular as the water fall this past week but its not terrible either.  We have seen some really nice Rainbows come in this past week weighing in between 2 and 4 pounds but the consistence we expect is just not there yet.  Anglers have seen the most consistent action using worms up near the surface and the Power Baits are slowly starting to come around with some good results as well.  Be patient, try new things, and most importantly don’t forget to look up and enjoy the beautiful scenery that is in the June Lake Loop.  The fishing is just a bonus to your relaxing vacation!!!!

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!

Fish of the Week:

Darren Curtis of San Diego hauled in this beautiful 4 pound 1 oz Rainbow fishing on his kayak on Silver Lake using Yellow Garlic Power Baits.  Nice Work Darren!!!! Hope you didn’t get to wet when it pulled you over board!!
