Silver Lake Resort Fishing Report 5/14/2017

The worm is starting to slowly turn here at Silver Lake as the fishing is starting to get more productive and we are starting to see some really nice fish coming in.  The water levels are crazy high as we are in the midst of winter run off and with as much snow as we received this past winter, there is a lot of water.  The lake has risen a good 5 to 7 feet over the past week as all that cold water is flowing into Silver Lake.  That cold water (45 degrees at the Surface) has been dumping into Silver Lake and Rush Creek but the past few days have been warmer and beautiful and the fishing has improved.  We saw a number of really nice 3 to 4 pounders come in and a great 6 pound 1 ounce drug in out of the lake this past week as well.  With the cold water think about fishing Silver Lake in an opposite manner than you are use to.  Instead of the normal bottom up method of fishing, think about working from the top down.  Worms and some flies are starting to show some good consistent action near the surface and we are starting to see some action on our ever faithful power baits.  There are a few hatches of bugs in between our cold spells, think about using a caddis or nymph as things start to spring into Spring.

DFW is on schedule to dump a load of catchables into Silver Lake and Rush Creek this next week and we are suppose to have a great week of weather which will help in warming up our water temps.  The start of a busy summer is upon us so come on up and get some fishing in and enjoy the beauty of the Eastern Sierra and the June Lake Loop and all the water we have.

See You at The Lake!!!

Fish of the Week:

Vido Artukovich from Covina landed this Monster Rainbow weighing in at 6 pounds 1 ounces caught on Silver Lake using a Black Wooly Bugger.  Our Biggest Fish on Silver Lake so far this season.  Nice Job Vido!!
