Silver Lake Resort Fish Report 6/11 – 6/18/16

Once again this past week, if you were able to with stand the winds and crazy weather we had, fishing wasn’t all that bad.  It wasn’t all that great either as the winds have been stirring things up here at Silver Lake making fishing a little more difficult than most are use to.  DFW did put in a load of catchables this last week in both Rush Creek and Silver Lake and are on schedule to hit them again this coming week, so we are hopeful it helps pick things up in the catching department.  We are also scheduled to receive a nice healthy load of 3 to 5 pound Rainbows from our good friends at Desert Springs Hatchery up in Oregon this coming week.  Our Spin Cast anglers saw some results this past week using the ever steady array of Berkley products, in particular Berkley Mice Tails, Power Baits of all flavors and colors and good old fashioned worms both from the shore and a boat.  There is still plenty of water dumping into Silver Lake via both Rush Creek and Alger Creek which is keeping the water temperatures on the cold to cooler side but we will take all the water we can.  If you are a bug enthusiast look to use a Yellow Sally, some Stone Fly Nymphs or some Elk Hare Caddis.  The fishing down on Rush Creek has been a little tough with lots of water flowing through it, but the fish are down there.  A good dose of patients and persistence will pay off.  If you are a trolling enthusiast, look to go a little deeper in Silver Lake, about 4 colors for lead core, for better results using a Tasmanian Devil or some dodgers to help attract the bigger fish.  The crazy weather can’t last forever and once it moves on hopefully the fishing will continue to get better.  Always remember that they call it fishing, not catching.  It still takes some skill, some patients and always some luck to fill up your stringers.

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!!

Fish of the Week:

The Johantgen Brothers caught a few fish this week fishing from the shore of Silver Lake using Berkley Mice Tails.  In between their adventures at this years Silver Lake Fly Fishing Academy they found some time to do some spin cast fishing and had some decent results.  Nice Job Boys!!
