Silver Lake Fishing Report 5/21-5/28/16

Despite another tumultuous week of weather, the fishing at Silver Lake was relatively  strong with a number of gorgeous 2 plus pound Rainbows coming out of the lake.  The water temperature is still a little cool, sitting around 48 degrees but is slowly warming which means the fish are starting to move around a little more and being active.  With what looks to be a much warmer, dryer, week ahead of us look for the fishing at Silver Lake to continue to improve.  DFW stocked this past Monday with a nice load of Catchable Rainbows which should also help with the catching side of fishing.  Anglers saw some great action this past week mostly from boats using Night Crawlers and Berkley Power Baits.  Work towards the bottom to middle depth of the water as those fish will be hunting out some warmer waters.  We also saw a few hatches of bugs in between the crazy weather this week and saw some good results with a small mosquito or a Light Cahill and even think about putting a midge dropper on those dry flies for some good results.  If you are a spin bait fisherman, Berkely Products are always popular especially Rainbow Glitter Garlic and Corn in the power bait department and Mice Tails with a little pink or red in it.  Popular lures are a Gold/Red Thomas Buoyant, a Fire Tiger or a Pink Bomber in the Tasmanian Devil if you like to troll or cast a lure.  Water levels are looking exceptional right now with lots of water flowing into Silver Lake via Rush Creek and Alger Creek which is a great sign of how much snow melt we are receiving from the lakes above 9,000ft.

A happy and safe Memorial Weekend to all and please thank a veteran or active duty member of the Military for their Service.

Silver Lake Resort’s Annual Rush Creek Clean up is coming up on Saturday June 11th so plan on coming out and lending a hand cleaning up trash along Silver Lake and Rush Creek.  A clean fishery is a Happy Fishery.

Happy Fishing and We Will See You at The Lake!!

Fish of the Week:

Sandy French of Long Beach brought in this nice 2 pound 10 ounce Rainbow fishing from the shore of Silver Lake using Corn Power Bait.  Nice Job Sandy!!
